The governance of Theatre Nemo is through a board of dedicated directors. The directors have legal responsibilities both as company directors and charity trustees. The aim is for the board to represent a wide cross-section of mental health and arts sector interests across Glasgow.
– Chair – Michel Syrett
Journalist and mental health researcher. Michel is a founding member of the Lived Experience Research Consortium at The Mental Health Foundation and Chair of Age in Mind, a research project funded by See Me that is examining mental health stigma in the case of older people.
He is also Mental Health Champion of the mental health service provider Action in Mind and the author of 20 books and reports on business and mental health topics.
Treasurer – Gillian Caughey
Gillian works for KPMG and is currently the lead for their partnership with Entrepreneurial Spark, an accelerator for early stage and growing ventures.
She is a Chartered Accountant with over 16 years of experience working in professional services.
– Board Member – David Walker
David is currently the Head of Operations (South) for the Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership. He is responsible for managing primary care, community health, social work and some in patient services in the south of the city. Previously he has held roles in strategic and service planning, performance management , research and analysis and corporate policy in the NHS, social work and local government.
– Board member – Nicolas White, Media and Public Affairs
Nic is Head of Scotland for Breast Cancer Care and a Board Director of social enterprise Street Soccer Scotland. He has held a number of positions in the voluntary sector including Head of Media, Policy and Campaigns at social care charity Quarriers and led the regional News and Media team at Action for Children. Nic’s background is in communications and worked for a number of public relations agencies after almost ten years as a journalist.
– Board Member – Beth MacMaster
Works in Community Justice in Glasgow. She is currently involved in strategic planning and performance management for the Community Justice Authority and for the One Glasgow Reducing Offending initiative. Beth has worked in the justice system for almost 10 years; her background is in applied social research.
– Board Member – Joe Connolly
Joe became Chief Executive Officer of Ypeople in 2007 following an extensive social work and management career in Local Authority and the Voluntary Sector. Joe has experience of developing and managing services in Criminal/Youth Justice, children and young people services and services for people whose lives have been affected by homelessness.
